Beemster cheese is made in the Beemster polder, where our cheese factory stands proudly among the cows. For over 100 years, we’ve been crafting cheese the traditional way. In our sustainable, climate-neutral cheese factory, modern techniques blend seamlessly with artisanal methods. Our cheese makers still stir the curd by hand—a process that takes more time but ensures an exceptional, unique flavor and a creamy texture.

 

Together with our 425 farmers in the cooperative, we oversee the entire process from grass to cheese. We prioritize the health of our cows, the quality of our milk, and care for the environment. Thanks to our animal welfare program, our cows provide the highest quality milk. They graze freely for over 180 days a year, 10 hours a day—far exceeding the standard of 120 days for 6 hours.
