Sarirasa Boemboe Rietja: Sweet and Spicy Indonesian Stir-Fry
Ingredients
• 500 grams chicken, beef, fish, or tofu (cut into pieces)
• 1 pack Sarirasa Boemboe Rietja
• 2 tablespoons rice oil
• 250 ml water
• 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis)
Instructions
1. Prepare the protein
• For chicken or beef: Sear the pieces in 2 tablespoons of rice oil until lightly browned.
• For fish: Fry briefly, then set aside to prevent overcooking.
• For tofu: Fry until golden and crispy.
2. Sauté the spice mix
Heat 2 tablespoons of rice oil in a pan and sauté the Sarirasa Boemboe Rietja until fragrant.
3. Combine ingredients
Add the cooked protein to the pan and stir well to coat with the spice mix.
4. Add liquids
Pour in 250 ml of water and 3 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis). Stir well to create a rich, flavorful sauce.
5. Simmer
Let the dish simmer on low heat until the sauce thickens and the flavors are absorbed. For fish, add it towards the end of cooking to avoid breaking apart.
Serving Tip
Serve Rietja with steamed rice and complement it with sides like Sambal Goreng, Atjar, or Kroepoek. Pair it with other Indonesian dishes for a complete meal.
