Sarirasa Boemboe Ajam Peniki: Sweet and Spicy Indonesian Chicken
Ingredients
• 500 grams chicken (cut into pieces)
• 1 pack Sarirasa Boemboe Ajam Peniki
• 2 tablespoons rice oil
• 200 ml coconut milk (Nutco or equivalent)
• 250 ml water
Instructions
1. Cook the chicken
Heat 2 tablespoons of rice oil in a pan. Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
2. Sauté the spice mix
In the same pan, sauté the Sarirasa Boemboe Ajam Peniki until fragrant.
3. Combine ingredients
Add the fried chicken back to the pan and stir well, ensuring all pieces are coated with the spice mix.
4. Add liquids
Gradually pour in 250 ml of water and 200 ml of coconut milk, stirring continuously to blend the flavors.
5. Simmer
Reduce the heat and let the dish simmer until the chicken is tender and the sauce thickens to a rich consistency.
Serving Tip
Serve Ajam Peniki with steamed rice and complement it with sides like sambal goreng, atjar, or krupuk. For a more elaborate meal, pair it with dishes like Sajoer Lodeh or Rendang using other Sarirasa spice mixes.
